"I start with the understanding that we are human beings. Not consumers. Not target audiences. Human beings trying our best every single day to find connection, meaning, value, comfort, hopefully, even love."

--Lenora Rand

Caring counts

Whatever your brand, product, or service, it matters to you. Whether it's a trip to DisneyWorld or dog food, you believe in it and believe it can make a difference in people's lives. So I believe in it too. A lot. I learn all I can, become your biggest fan, and get excited about what you have to offer the world. And it shows.

 surprise is good

We live in the age of the Big Yawn. We've  all been there, done that. So how do I help you surprise and delight and engage the people who matter to you? Not just with tactics, but with insights that are of the moment and in tune with what's going on in culture. And with ideas that make people feel - laugh, cry, say "Oh!"

excellence matters

We notice things that are thoughtfully and well done. Quality stands out. But these days, time is of the essence. To be a part of the conversation you need to move fast. Not all big agencies can do that. But as an experienced creative, I can provide both the level of expertise and craft you want,  at the speed you really need.

A creative director and writer who gets people, cares about craft, understands brands, and brings years of big agency experience to the table.

Yes, I've been doing this a while. I've worked in advertising and marketing for about 30 years, starting out in catalog and direct mail,  and then, for the last 25 years at Leo Burnett, one of the world's biggest and best ad agencies.

As a writer and creative director, I've helped big brands like Disney, Hallmark, Whirlpool, DeVry University, and Centrum, connect with people who matter most to them through film, print, digital, events, and retail.

I love words, and believe in their power to inspire, enlighten, challenge and change. That's why, I also blog regularly for the Chicago Tribune's blogging platform, ChicagoNow, write song lyrics for a band, and as a volunteer, help with communications for a number of social justice-related causes and organizations.
